wigglewaggle2The Annual Wiggle Waggle Walk is back for it’s 11th year! Join other animal lovers on Sunday, September 27 to help raise funds for animal shelters with the Pasadena Human Society & SPCA. Participants don’t need a dog to participate, but four-legged friends are certainly welcome. Walkers can choose between a long or a short route for the fundraiser. The long route is approximately 3.2 miles which follows a counter-clockwise loop around the Rose Bowl and Brookside Golf Course. The short route measures less than a mile and follows the large field in front of the Rose Bowl stadium. The Pasadena Human Society would like to remind pet owners and animal-lovers how they can make a difference with Wiggle Walk.

“Each day we are open, an average of 40 new animals come to our shelter. This fundraiser will help the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA care for the more than 12,000 animals brought to us each year.”

Pasadena natives, Lesley Bautista Poston and Maridelle B. Hannah, are back again for the 2009 Wiggle Waggle Walk with their team, Fairy Tails. Poston is the team captain, along with her Yorkshire Terrier, Spam Musobi. Poston first joined up with Wiggle Waggle years ago with a company team.

“A lot of companies make this fundraiser a corporate event,” she says. “We first started walking with a company team. The following year we decided to create our own team, and four years later here we are—Team Fairy Tails!”

Participants can walk in the Wiggle Waggle Walk for free, but they do ask that you help support the animals by donating or raising funds. Walkers can join an existing team, start a new team, or register as an individual. If you join a team, the fundraising done by each walker goes towards a collective team goal as well as the individual’s walker goal.

“Our favorite part is doing something fun with our family and friends,” says Lesley Bautista Poston. “Fairy Tails is a bunch of family and friends raising money together and hanging out with our dogs all day. We always get there early, have a mini breakfast, and take pictures with the team to get pumped for the walk. Spending time with each other for a great cause is always fun!”

Don’t forget to stay for the Family Fun Fair after the walk. The Pasadena Humane Society promises loads of fun for every member of the family. There will be dozens of booths offering bedding, clothing, toys and treats for your pet, along with pet sitting/boarding services, veterinary services and nutritional items. There will be contests for the Best Dressed Dog, Best Trick, and a Pet/Owner Look Alike contest.  Some of Pasadena’s favorite eateries will also be on hand, so save room for lunch.

The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA is an independent, donor-supported, non-profit agency that provides animal care for abandoned and homeless animals. An open door agency, PHS welcomes and cares for all animals in its service area regardless of age, medical condition, breed or any other criteria.
