Donations Needed For Dinner-In-The-Park
Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena will be hosting Dinner-In-The-Park on Christmas Day, just like they did at Thanksgiving. You can still make this holiday season special for families in need by volunteering or donating food or toys for Christmas Day. In fact, Union Station Homeless Services sent out a plea on Friday asking for more donations. Read on to find out how you can help.
From Glendale News Press:
About 1,200 children whose families are either homeless or very low-income attend the event each year, said Lauren Arant, assistant director of development for Union Station, and each child looks forward to receiving at least one toy from Santa.
She said Santa “and his brother” hand out gifts that have been sorted by volunteers for gender- and age-appropriateness.
Unless there is a last-minute flurry of donations, some of the children may go away empty-handed, Arant said, because the donor who has in the past provided 1,000 to 2,000 toys for the event had to scale back that donation to 500 toys.

Here’s where you come in. This is how you can help:
Donate New Toys for Christmas
- Santa Claus gives away toys to about 1,200 children at Union Station’s Christmas Dinner-in-the-Park. If you can donate a large quantity of new toys, please email inkinddonations@unionstationhs.org, otherwise follow the instructions below. All toys should be new and unwrapped.
- Toys can be dropped off at our Adult Center (412 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena) from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
- Toys must be dropped off by noon on December 23rd.
Donate Prepared Food
- Fully Cooked Hams
- Side Dishes – Side dishes must be safely prepared in disposable aluminum containers. We are in need of mashed potatoes without gravy, gravy, scalloped potatoes, corn, peas, green beans and salad.
- Desserts (please, no jello)
