Project: Altadena

debbieOne month of shooting all that is Altadena, whatever aspects of it you wish to shoot. But you only have 27 frames. No digital cameras for this project! Now that may scare the heck out of some people, and inspire others.

I have to say it’s a little challenging for me because of the limitations in lens, quality, control. Yet, it’s liberating. Pick a subject, or a theme, or take random shots. Whatever you wish. The only thing really necessary is taking the time to compose the shot. And then be surprised when all the photos are developed and displayed over Labor Day Weekend–another  in a memorable series of Altadena arts weekends.

This fun project was cooked up by Molly at Photography by Walt, the Altadena Arts Coalition and Tim Rutt of altadenablog. On July 1, Molly began distributing 100 disposable cameras for $20 each, including processing, with some free, thanks to Rutt,  to those who want to participate but are low on cash.

I was surprised to find out there still are cameras available. See Molly or visit Websters Fine Stationers on Lake. Cameras are due back to Molly by July 31. Pretty snappy…

And here’s the link to the Pasadena Star News story. You may recognize the name of the person photographed.  www.pasadenastarnews.com

Let me know if you’re participating.

See ya on the streets!
