Caltech’s Enterprise Forum is hosting a forum this Saturday titled, “Fun & Bucks: Harvesting Energy from Sun, Wind, Biomass & Water.” The program will focus on the business and financing opportunities in the clean technology sector, as well as highlight ways you can sell your alternative energy to customers such as utility companies. Read on to find stats about California’s progressive move toward a clean energy future.
“When it comes to energy, California is playing a different game and it shows. From 2006 to 2008, California attracted $3 of every $5 invested in U.S. clean tech — five times as much as the No. 2 state. California has been preparing for its clean-energy future for a long time. Today, the state is proactively enacting groundbreaking efficiency standards for buildings, appliances and pool heaters.
California is also leading the way toward electric cars, zero-emission homes, advanced biofuels and a smarter grid. It has even launched a belated battle against car-dependent sprawl, with unprecedented rules forcing communities to consider carbon emissions in their land-use plans. Recently, California created the nation’s first energy-efficiency standard for television sets, as part of California’s campaign to reduce energy waste and cut emissions from power plants.” (Caltech Enterprise Forum)
